the netherlands & being travelsick

At the end of 2013 my friends and I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime.

**
We went to Europe to undertake an intensive, short-term exchange program: Positive Psychology at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. For many of us, it was our first time away from home without our families. It was an eye-opening, educational and maturing experience, and we made some forever memories. I was just transferring folders to my external hard drive when I came across these gems.

All diets were thrown out the window in the first day.
We greeted the winter sunrise at around 9am. It felt like 4am.
One of the best breakfasts I had, coupled with one of the most embarrassing experiences from the trip (post to come).

We took advantage of every remotely warm corner we could.
The first and last time we saw a swan in the Amsterdam canals.
The reason the Dutch painted their houses green was because there was something in the green paint that prevented damage to the houses from the water and humidity. Copper? I can't remember.
Nobody ever cared where the tram was. Even when the driver was honking.
The only time I've ever seriously contemplated living on a house boat.
So beautiful, we almost forgot how cold it was.
I was trying to take a photo of his lady. He wasn't impressed.
Clogs of old.
Clogs of the bold.
There were never any fences lining the canals. I still can't get over this.
My brief moment of bravery. It was a cold and long drop.
Colours obviously saturated, but still can't compete with seeing the real thing.
